(New Scientist)
Children whose father’s vocabulary was more varied when they were 2 years old had more advanced language skills at age 3. Surprisingly, the dads spoke less and asked fewer questions than the mothers, suggesting it was not how much they spoke but what they said and how they said it that resonated with their children.
Uh-oh!

Yay for the return.
Welcome back!
Thanks. It's good to be back.
Ashley, didn't you have an anecdote on Sedition.com about offspring picking up and using choice words? Couldn't spot it in a rudimentary search.
You probably mean this one: Spilled milk. There was actually on a couple days ago with the 2 year-old that was even better but probably too embarrassing to relate. All I can say about it is, if it were on video I'd be $10,000 richer by the next season of America's Funniest Home Videos.
The only particularly sophisticated vocabulary they seem to be getting from me so far are dinosaur species.
That's the one.
What dinosaurs? They are Satan's ruse.
